Welcome from our Head Teacher

Welcome to the Bassingbourn Community Primary School web site.

I believe that it is important for parents to be interested and involved in their child's learning and share this responsibility with the school. We depend on your cooperation and support and hope that this web site will help facilitate our communication with all our stakeholders.

BCPS is a community school that caters for boys and girls from 4 to 11. We have approximately 310 children on the roll in 11 classes. The arrangement of the classes can vary from year to year according to the number of children in each year group and the number of teaching staff.

Children come to our school from Bassingbourn village, Kneesworth, Shingay, Wendy. and from the local Barracks. We have a well equipped building set in pleasant grounds overlooking Royston Heath.

We have a successful school with a very friendly ethos. We encourage children to do their best and we provide a social and moral context that helps children grow into thinking, caring people. We are working towards a common goal where children are happy, healthy and learning.

This site also celebrates the successes of our pupils and staff, demonstrating to the general public the high standards and achievements attained within our school and our community as recognised by the OFSTED Inspectors report, December 2007 which summarises our school ethos .... "The school achieves very high standards in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and encouragement. Staff and pupils work hard and strive to do their best. Learning has a proper sense of urgency, while laughter and fun abound too."

We welcome any feedback that any member of the public may wish to provide.
